Follow this quick guide to set up LM Studio for AI Book Writer
LM Studio provides a user-friendly interface for running AI models locally on your own computer. This allows you to create books without relying on cloud APIs, giving you complete privacy and no usage fees after the initial download.
Visit lmstudio.ai and click the download button for your operating system (Windows, macOS, or Linux). The installer is approximately 50MB depending on your platform.
Run the downloaded installer and follow the on-screen instructions. Accept any security prompts that appear. Once installed, launch LM Studio from your applications folder or start menu.
In LM Studio, navigate to the ‘Models’ tab and browse the available models. Click ‘Download’ next to a model like Mistral or Llama 2. The download size varies from 2GB to 15GB depending on the model you choose.
After downloading a model, go to the ‘Local Inference Server’ tab. Select your downloaded model from the dropdown menu and click ‘Start Server’. LM Studio will initialize the model and begin serving the API locally.
Open AI Book Writer and go to Settings > Model Settings. Select ‘LM Studio’ as your API provider. Then go to LM Studio (Local) and enter the API URL: ‘http://localhost:1234/v1‘. Save your settings and you’re ready to start creating books using your local model.
Important: Local AI models require significant computer resources. For smooth performance, we recommend at least 16GB RAM and a modern CPU. For larger models, a dedicated GPU with 8GB+ VRAM will substantially improve generation speed.
Create complete, publication-ready books with AI-powered assistance.
